City Lights, Books & Bubbly, Author friends

Hey, y’all!

I had a great week last week: my friend, the New York Times bestselling author Madeline Martin, stayed with me in my home in Western North Carolina while we did two events together to celebrate our newest historical novels, THE SECRET BOOK SOCIETY (Madeline) and THE MINIATURIST’S ASSISTANT (me).

We had a lovely, intimate conversation in the Appalachian Room of City Lights Bookstore in Sylva, NC, introduced by the always-thoughtful Matt Sawyer.

Then, it was a book-lover’s dream with a Books and Bubbly event in Asheville, NC at Battery Park Book Exchange & Champagne Bar. Hosted by the Asheville Literary Society and Social Club, and moderated by the witty and warm Elizabeth Schulte Roth, we had a ball!

The best part was having Madeline hang out at my home, love on my dog, and meet my daughters and husband. We had a grown-up slumber party (with not nearly enough talking time—which just means she has to come back)! Being an author, especially one of historical fiction, is an odd job. Not many people do it. So it’s special to have a friend who gets it.

As always, check out the of-the-minute updates, photos, and reels, over at my Instagram page.

  • Next stop for THE MINIATURIST’S ASSISTANT and me: Copper Fox Books in beautiful Blue Ridge, Georgia on Saturday, Oct. 18th from 1:00 - 3:00 PM for a meet & greet and book signing. I’d love to see y’all there!
