Sir Walter is here: NC Book award statue in the house

Hey, y’all,

Well, the official bronze—and very heavy—statue of Sir Walter Raleigh is in my house and on my built-in bookshelf. I am thrilled! As you might remember, back in December, The Miniaturist’s Assistant was awarded a 2025 North Carolina Book Award: the Sir Walter Raleigh Award, the state’s highest honor for fiction. (I’m still glowing.)

It takes a while for these awards to be made—up to six months—and so I had a resin statue in its place for a while. But the real Walter (as we’re calling him at home) is here, and he is quite dashing. I love him. I’m still so proud.
