August recap: books, roadtrip to maine, & what’s next!
Hey, y’all!
Whew, has summer flown. It always does, and I’m always filled round about this time with the bittersweet feelings of relief and sadness. Oh, isn’t humaning a kick in the pants?
Summer is always family time for me, and this one has been filled with books, jigsaw puzzles, family vacation, roadtrips, time outside, and plenty of mom life and work, too. Here’s a quick recap:
at the end of July, I visited with a beautiful book club in Brevard, North Carolina; did a fabulous event at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove in Asheville, NC; got to see Lerner & Loewe at the Brevard Music Center (stupendous) with my mom and daughter; AND my daughter turned 17.
we just returned from a spontaneous road trip to Maine, where my girls and I joined their dad on a work trip. We visited the best spots, and got to reconnect with friends we’d made back during the Covid pandemic, when we spent a month there. We hiked, took ferry rides, ate ice cream, drank blueberry sodas, and just had a glorious time.
now we’re home, and prepping our oldest for senior year (stop. I just can’t). We’ve got days of packed-in doctors’, dentists’, and hair appointments, deadlines to meet, and more—and I know so many of y’all are dealing with the same… plus all the extra stuff life throws at us.
I always post more on Instagram, so you haven’t followed me there yet, I hope you will. And I’m going to do a round-up of all the books I read, movie & TV shows watched, & bookstores visited in my September newsletter, so be sure to sign up for that.
Here are some photos from our journeys. I sure hope y’all enjoy, and more importantly, that you soak up these last dog days of summer!
