Miniature portraits, “regency era” America, & more: At the library
I had such a ball sharing my research for The Miniaturist’s Assistant with a great group at the Transylvania County Library in Brevard, North Carolina! I’ll take any excuse to dork out over U.S. history, the gloriously fun rabbit hole of novel research, and writing historical fiction, with fellow book-lovers.
The ultimate joy of book tour is connecting—and even re-connecting—with readers. So it was wonderful to see familiar faces from when I toured years ago with my first novel, Keowee Valley; talking with readers of my former Gannett newspaper column, reminiscing on all things coastal South Carolina, and seeing the gorgeous ladies of the Beyond the Pages Book Club—who drove up and over the mountain just for the event!
If you haven’t joined your local library’s Friends of the Library group, be sure to do so this summer. Here in Transylvania County, NC, their generosity provides such gifts. Libraries forever!
Note: Photos are from prepping and leading a book event, start to finish—with commentary from Merlin, my dog. (She’s just happy I’m in town.)
Next stop on book tour: I’m headed down to Duluth, Georgia, to the Gwinnett County Library, on June 24th, for an author talk moderated by Jill Cox-Cordova. For details, click here.
