the miniaturist’s assistant meets Historical book club of north carolina

Sometimes this author gig can be a dream. I just returned from a wonderful night and day in Greensboro, North Carolina, courtesy of the Historical Book Club of North Carolina — an organization celebrating their 80th birthday soon!

I was treated to a night at the incredible Proximity Hotel in Greensboro, and to a delicious dinner at Printworks Bistro, where the service, style, and élan of the hotel and restaurant felt like old world hospitality and glitz.

Then, I was the guest speaker at the HBCNC’s annual luncheon at the Greensboro Country Club. I even took photos of the bathroom, the place was so incredibly beautiful. It was nothing compared to the women of the HBCNC, however: they showed up in full force, and made me feel incredibly special with a truly spectacular brand of Southern hospitality. I’ll never forget it!

North Carolina historical novelists, be on the lookout for next year’s awards!
