Okay, so this blog post title is a bit misleading. But what author doesn’t dream of seeing their book come to life on film? Netflix gods, are you listening…?

Here at the beginning of 2026, I’m doing a little dreaming with The Miniaturist’s Assistant. Here are the actors I (and my husband, frankly) think could play both Gamble Vance and Tolliver Jackson in a film or TV version of The Miniaturist’s Assistant:

Gamble: Saorise Ronan, Isabel May, Amanda Siegfried, Theresa Palmer, Florence Pugh, Margot Robbie, Kate Phillips, Brie Larson

Tolliver: David Gyasi, Nik Walker, Michael B. Jordan, Lucien Laviscount, Mahershala Ali, Leslie Odom, Jr; Cress Williams
